INGREDIENTS:
5 large red onions, finely sliced
1 handful freshly chopped parsley
3 tbsp butter
1 tbsp olive oil
3 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp brown sugar
Pinch of salt
Pinch of black pepper
Pinch of cayenne pepper
Squeeze of lemon/lime juice

METHOD:
Step One:
In a large frying pan over medium heat, add the 2 tbsp of butter and 1 tbsp of olive oil and let it come up to temperature. Add the finely sliced onions, parsley, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper, and combine until evenly mixed in the frying pan. Reduce heat to low, stirring occasionally, letting the onions cook down and reduce for about 20 minutes.
Final Step:
After 20 minutes, add your balsamic vinegar, sugar, and lemon/lime juice to the onions, mix well, and let it simmer for an additional 5 to 7 minutes until the onions are translucent and takes on a golden brown colour.
